What's New
Site News Summer/Autumn 2011
I’m writing this on a hot sticky summer evening, such a contrast to the last “News” which was penned whilst snow was on the ground! As usual lots of naturist activities are going on during the summer. Naturist Corner has shared in highlighting these national events. These have included the Abbey House Gardens Clothes Optional days, Nudefest and many others.
As the site approaches its fourth birthday in January next year we are approaching 1,500 members, who between them have started nearly 6,000 topics with around 47,000 posts. It is a rare day now when less than a hundred members log on during any one day. The number of guests can regularly exceed 50 during any day.
The site had a major upgrade early in the year. This gave additional templates and a cleaner more up-to-date look. The site rules and welcome pages were clarified and made more presentable. The information for newbie naturists now includes advice on etiquette. Since then, over the last few months, there have been some minor developments. The gallery has been smartened up and is more user-friendly. The member maps have been updated and some thread categories have been amended.
The site once again hosted a quiz during the winter. This was a naturist based quiz, the answers having to be submitted within a short limited period. The prize, very generously given by members, Gordon and Liz was a weeks holiday at a naturist cottage in Wales. The prize was won by Sunnybums and Grommit.
The moderating team has seen the departure of Andy Frank, Mark and Running Bear. Our thanks are due to these members and the current moderating team. These members try to maintain a balance between censorship and free debate only stepping in when something inappropriate is written. Traditionally one of the main problems for the moderators has been the removal of copyright material. This has been the inclusion of cartoons and pictures into posts. Members must be aware that if they post this type of material they must either own the copyright, e.g. you took the picture, or you must have permission of the copyright holder. It’s worth remembering too, that just because it’s in the public domain does not mean its copyright free! Happily there has been much less of this material of late. The moderators like to think they get it right most of the time. It may well be the time to increase the size of this team in the not too distant future as our membership increases.
It’s also timely to thank Cas–Couple for the Admin work they do. The greatest thanks and appreciation must go to Tony, the site originator and Administrator. The hours he spends making this the site that it is, really is amazing. We have to thank Irene his wife for her support too.
We also need to recognise the involvement of our members. Like most forums about 20% of the members generate about 80% of the posts. Newcomers are always welcome so if you are tempted by reading these pages, please consider joining us. We have a reputation of being “the friendly site” and it’s clear from reading various posts that members do get together from time to time. The author of this report has re-found an old colleague and made a friendship with another family. The naturist world is, unfortunately, a small one, but it is a growing one. This site is part of that world and has been recognised as such by H&E Naturist on at least a couple of occasions and by other naturist groups. We look forward to making or renewing your acquaintance on the forum pages.
